Archaeology and Heritage

A detailed assessment has concluded that the possibility of there being significant archaeological remains of any period on this site is negligible. The evidence within the search radius shows settlement focused away from the application area, while cartographic (map) evidence suggests that the site was farmland until the development of the old sugar factory, the construction of which is likely to have destroyed archaeologcal remains, had such remains been present.
