Air Quality

This is a complex subject which can only be summarised here. The full details of the air quality assessment work is available from the links at the foot of this page.

The methodology used in the assessment of the impact on air quality of the Brigg REP uses a number of conservative assumptions. These include the following:

Even with these conservative assumptions, the contribution of each pollutants to the relevant short term air quality limit is less than 10% of the standard, which is regarded as insigificant.

Equally, the contribution of each pollutant to its long term air quality standard is not greater than 1% of the standard, which is also regarded as insignificant.

Eco2 has also evaluated the combined impact of Brigg REP and the adjacent gas fired power station. Again, the impact is insignificant.

It can be concluded that the impact on both the local community and the general population from atmospheric emissions from the Brigg REP is small.
